Terms of Service

This agreement is between you and Jasan Rodriguez, operator of Second Step ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use Second Step. Continued use after an update to these terms means you accept the updated version.

Second Step is a footwear discovery service. It searches connected third-party marketplaces for the pair you describe — by name, style number, or photograph — ranks the results against your stated product, size, condition and budget, and lets you save searches for later. Second Step does not sell footwear and is not a party to any transaction.

Second Step currently searches eBay, StockX and Etsy through their official APIs. Marketplace coverage is not exhaustive, and features that are not yet available are labeled in the interface.

All listings displayed are supplied by third-party marketplaces through their official APIs. They are marketplace data, not Second Step inventory. We do not verify listings, sellers, authenticity, or the accuracy of listing details, and we do not add, alter, or invent listing information that the marketplace did not supply.

Prices, shipping estimates, condition, sizes and availability are captured at the time a search runs and may be cached briefly. They can change or become unavailable at any moment. The marketplace listing itself is always the authoritative source.

Selecting a listing takes you to the marketplace that hosts it, such as eBay. Your activity there — including purchases, payment, shipping, returns and disputes — is governed by that marketplace's terms and privacy policy, not ours.

Second Step does not currently earn affiliate or referral compensation from outbound links. If that changes, we will disclose it here and in the interface.

Some features require an account, including running live marketplace searches, saving searches, and viewing your search history. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, abuses the service, or puts our marketplace API access at risk. You may close your account at any time by emailing secondstepsearch@gmail.com; deletion is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

You may upload photographs to search by image. You are responsible for having the right to upload anything you submit. Uploads are stored privately against your account.

You keep ownership of what you upload. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store and process your uploads solely to operate the service for you — for example to run and display the results of your search. That license ends when the file is deleted under our retention schedule or at your request.

You agree not to:

• Scrape, crawl or automate access to Second Step, or bypass rate limits.
• Resell, republish or redistribute marketplace data obtained through Second Step.
• Use the service in any way that would breach a connected marketplace's own API or user terms, including eBay's.
• Attempt to access another user's account or data, probe our security, or interfere with the operation of the service.
• Upload unlawful, infringing or harmful content.

Listing titles, images and descriptions belong to the marketplace or the seller that published them and are displayed here as marketplace data. Brand names are used only to identify products.

The Second Step name, interface, design and software are owned by the operator. You receive a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the service for its intended purpose. No other rights are granted.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty about the accuracy, authenticity, pricing or availability of third-party listings. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost purchases, or disputes arising from a transaction you enter into on a third-party marketplace. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.

Pending legal review: governing law, venue and dispute-resolution terms have not been finalized. Until they are, any dispute should first be raised with us by email at secondstepsearch@gmail.com so we can try to resolve it directly.

We may update these terms as the service changes. The effective date above will be updated, and material changes will be announced in the app and by email to registered users at least 14 days before they take effect.
